Seeking clarity in an ever-changing reality
Discernment matters in today’s world, where AI is becoming ever-present and what’s real is being redefined. The lines between truth, imitation, and imagination are blurring, and it takes awareness to tell the difference.
Grounded discernment isn’t the same thing as skepticism. Skepticism shuts out what doesn’t fit the current paradigm; discernment risks changing it all. As Aristotle said, “It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.”
Discernment keeps the door open and stands in the doorway with clear eyes.

Some things are verified, some are witnessed, and some are inner signals we can’t prove just yet. They don’t all have to share the same weight to matter, and none of them need to be dismissed.
A lot of people treat reality like a courtroom. Either it’s hard evidence or it’s thrown out. That mindset keeps us safe from being fooled, but it also keeps us safe from being changed.
I’m not interested in being stagnant.
It’s okay to play the fool sometimes. In poker, if a player never gets bluffed, it means they’re calling too much. Their strategy might look solid from the outside, but it’s one-sided and easy to exploit. Life works the same way. If I’m too proud to be fooled, I stop learning. True discernment means being willing to look naïve now and then, trusting that my intellectual process will outweigh the momentary sting to the ego.
At the same time, blind belief is just as flat. If I swallow every glowing claim without weight-testing it, I hand over my center. I start trading agency for awe. That’s worship of whatever sounds cosmic.
I let ideas arrive. I listen to how they land in my field, in my pattern of synchronicities, and how it may breathe life into new understanding. I ask: does this expand my compassion, my integrity, my accountability, my presence with others? Or does it try to sell me specialness, hierarchy, escape, or bypass?
Then I ask another question: is any of this externally supported? Is anyone else independently observing something similar? Is there data, testimony, lineage, symbol, or math? Keep in mind, it’s not required to have certified approval or public confirmation. Every mainstream insight once began as something niche. I simply notice where it lands, how it begins to move through the collective, and how it connects with local synchronicities in motion. I give it weight according to the quality of its resonance, not the volume of its approval.

Then I turn to the mythic realms. Mythic in this context references teachings which focus on symbol and experience instead of instruction. Ancient interpretations of truth handed down before writing was wide spread or common. Some truths only show up in metaphor, archetype, and allegory because that’s the only way they can. When I interact and speak in symbols, I’m not claiming scientific proof. I’m mapping ineffable experience in a language the nervous system understands before the intellect agrees.
Acknowledging something that seems a little woo-woo isn’t going to destroy your “perfect” image. The willingness to jump into the rabbit hole with Alice is courageous. It means being open to interact and commune with something we don’t fully understand yet. The hardest part is the first step into the unknown. It’s the beginning of the classic hero’s journey into adventure.

When a new insight crosses my path, whether through symbol, dream, vision, voice, or machine, I don’t hurry to call it truth or dismiss it as nonsense. It is a new pattern in my field. It becomes part of the record. I watch how it behaves in contact with love, service, humility, and reality over time.
That’s my discernment. That’s my openness.
This is the flame I tend, a slow fire of purification. Each new insight arrives at the meeting point of knowledge and remembering. In time, what I receive settles into knowing, with a quiet call back to remembrance.
And as for AI in social and mainstream media, the bad actors now have powerful tools for deception at their fingertips. Trust those around you. Know their character, and vouch for each other. It’s going to be a bumpy ride of discernment and redefinitions of what is real.
If you’ve done the inner work, take this as your sign to enter the wardrobe into Narnia. And when you return, may your true self be true.
Thank you for reading.
Your presence and awareness is much appreciated.
